Ohapuku House
Built in 2024 this home was an Architectural home rendered in sustainable Aboda Cladding. This home was built for a design loving family who were fully engaged in the design process and had a strong vision for their dream family home. This build required the highest attention to detail and broad collaboration with architects, designers and our network of professional tradespeople. Simple in design yet complex construction details were integral to this build. This project was a 15 month build in a stunning part of North Canterbury.

The Wool Shed Extension
This modern extension to a converted woolshed dramatically enhances the footprint of the home and sits harmoniously with the original woolshed structure. This project utilises cast concrete to mimic the look of the corrugated iron wool shed. The cladding has been left to oxidize on the extension to create an interesting contrast with the original character of the woolshed. The Woolshed itself is full of family history and character and the extension is an excellent example of thoughtful design and traditional and modern craftmanship. Coldstream Builders are proud to be a part of this innovative project.

Urban Dwelling
We were lucky to work with a return client on their second urban dwelling. This client was a Draftswomen herself who designed the 2 adjoining, three bedroom townhouses. The homes featured a stunning, two-story entrance ceiling with finned timber joinery running floor to ceiling creating a dramatic entranceway.
The master bedroom on the second floor also opened up to the expansive 2 stories of finned oak joinery completed by Millbrook Kitchens.
We used a pre-coated ash timber decking known for its durability, which darkens to a rich, chocolate and enhances the wood grain finish. The urban apartments are nestled in the heart of Merivale, yet they are quite the urban oasis and offer great city living for our client.

The Palms
This new build was a modern architectural home built to maximise the corner section, river views and accommodate the homeowner’s large motorhome in a purpose-built attached garage. Clad in cedar and integrating schist stonework Coldstream built the dream, low-maintenance retirement property for our wonderful client, so they get to spend more time doing what they love. It was our pleasure to build this beautiful home.

Fendalton Restoration
Our client had a clear vision to modernise this original 1940's home in the heart of Fendalton while retaining some of the original architectural charm.
We added double glazing to the windows and updated all the interior finishes, plumbing and electrical.
The kitchen and sitting room were transformed to modern, open-plan living, while using the salvaged original timber panelling. We added bespoke French doors crafted by Grant Shadbolt Joinery to extend the living area outdoors to the deck.
A completely new floor plan was created upstairs to introduce a 4th bedroom to the home. An additional double garage was added to compliment the heritage architecture of the home.
